Sincerely, Bianca Popola What a GREAT second week we had together! I am so impressed with how well our class is diving right into the school year. Each and every child and his/her dedication to learning truly never ceases to amaze me! LEARNING TOPICS
PBIS REwards DetailsThe long-awaited information about PBIS Rewards is finally here! Thank you very much for your patience as we learn to navigate this new platform and enable student-access from home. We appreciate you! As mentioned in last week's newsletter, students can earn points from any staff member in the building for following the below rules or the "Big Three" - Respect Myself, Respect Others, and Be 100% Accountable.
Once a month, the PBIS team will visit each grade level with a Prize Cart. Students will be made aware of the day this will take place, what items will be available, and how much a trip to the cart "costs" in advance. Moreover, students can set a goal of what they'd like to work toward earning so they have something awesome to look forward to after accumulating PBIS Rewards points! If your child isn't interested in the items on the cart, he/she can also cash-in their points for something in my store at any point in time - it does not need to be on the same day that the PBIS Prize Cart visits 2nd grade. Should your child choose this option, it is his/her responsibility to let me know when they have reached their point goal and are ready to purchase something from my store (see below for a step-by-step guide on how to check points at home). This is what can be purchased at my store -

Sincerely, Bianca Popola Hello, families, and welcome back! We had an outstanding start to 2nd grade this week. We learned a lot about one another, school expectations, and began getting into some curriculum. This incredibly smooth start has made me even more excited to see what this year has in store for all of us (which is hard to believe, because I was truly already ecstatic at the sole fact that we would start the year with students in the classroom)! Daily Schedule (Including Specials)PBIS RewardsThis year, we are using a school-wide positive behavior reinforcement system called PBIS rewards. Using the website/app, students can receive points from any Dolvin staff member for displaying positive behaviors that fall under the above rules (it is very similar to Class Dojo, for those of you who are familiar). Students can use their points to purchase FUN rewards! Once a month, a prize cart will come around the building for students to cash in their points, if they wish. Should they choose to cash their points in before the monthly prize cart comes around, they can do so in my prize store. I have rewards for up to 50 points. We are still ironing out some kinks with the PBIS Rewards website/app, so initially, I thought that the students could view their points through the app in Classlink; however, it appears that is not the case. Once I have received more information on student/family access, I will send out an email. Thanks for your patience with this! Stay connectedAlong with occasional emails and weekly posts here on my website under "Weekly News," I will often Tweet out photos of fun, academic things we are doing in the classroom. The best way to stay connected is to follow me on Twitter - @MsPopola. ClosingPlease always feel free to reach out with questions and concerns. I hope that you close out this first week of school with an incredible weekend!
