Hello, Families! This week was yet another great week of learning in our 2nd grade class.

learning topics

  • Reading - retelling fiction stories​ (5 W & H questions; 5-finger retell; beginning/middle/end)
  • Writing - small moment narratives
  • Phonics - Magic "E"
  • Math - 
    • 2.1 - place value & modeling to 1000; skip counting; counting to 120; multiple ways to represent a number
    • 2.4 - place value; base ten modeling; using expanded form to add two, 2- to 4-digit numbers;  using base ten blocks to subtract numbers
  • Social Studies - landforms (mountain, valley, plateau, plain, river, etc.); Georgia's 5 Regions (Appalachian Plateau, Blue Ridge, Coastal Plain, Piedmont, and Valley & Ridge)

If your child is looking for academic resources, supports, videos, or games, please be sure to encourage them to visit my website! If they click on the "Students" tab, they will be brought to a page that has buttons for each subject. Once they click on the subject, they can explore various materials on content-related subjects!

  • Thursday, September 2nd - Fall Picture Day (order forms were sent home in your child's folder last week)
  • Friday, September 3rd - Dolvin Spirit Day
  • Friday, September 3rd - Virtual Parent Coffee at 9:00 am
  • Monday, September 6th - Labor Day/No School
  • Tuesday, September 7th to Friday, September 17th - Scholastic Book Fair (more info to come)
