Author's Share Day #2! We did an amazing job writing our first "how-to" piece for our informational unit!

Lots of fun with our first dictionary experience today! We looked up various words and determined their pages' guide-words, how many syllables the word had, what part of speech it is, and its definition. Proud of how quickly we caught on to this skill!

CONFERENCES ARE "AMONG US!"

Picture
Fall Conferences are "Among Us!" The window for the 2021-2022 school year is October 12th - October 29th. If you'd like to discuss your child's progress, please choose a date/time from this Sign-Up Genius (this link will also be posted to my website under the "Parent" tab). You'll be able to indicate whether you'd prefer a phone, video, or in-person conference. Please note that if you would prefer an in-person conference, you must choose a slot after 3pm. I am looking forward to discussing your child's progress with you soon!

monday's "LATE START" DAY INFORMATION

Our second "Late Start" day is this upcoming Monday, October 25th. Please see the below information shared by Principal Cooke -

"The superintendent has added six “Late Start” days to the calendar in order to give teachers some additional time to review student data and to make instructional decisions in collaboration with colleagues. Teachers will be in meetings on a rotational basis and we will provide coverage for the impacted teachers. Students who arrive at the normal school time will be engaged in academic tasks, but whole group instruction will not begin until 8:40 a.m.

Some logistics for you:

  • Buses and the cafeteria operate on their normal schedules.
  • Carpool will run at its normal time, but there will also be a second carpool arrival time of 8:25-8:40 a.m. offered.
  • Students that arrive later than 8:40 a.m. will be considered tardy.
  • Specials for second grade students will have their time adjusted to 9:45-10:30 a.m.

"Late Start" Dates:
  • October 25th
  • November 15th
  • January 24th
  • February 28th
  • March 21st

Please note that schools have some autonomy on how the Late Start Days operate. Therefore, if you have children at other schools you may receive different information on how their mornings are organized."
