Last week, we had the pleasure of reading to Mrs. Adams' Pre-K class! It was SO sweet. Looking forward to more buddy adventures with her wonderful class soon!

50th Day celebration!

Picture
Wednesday, October 20th is our 50th Day of School Celebration! We will be celebrating 50 fabulous days of learning by dressing up in our best 50s attire. It is not required that students dress up, but we would love to see a lot of participation!

Here are some great costume ideas. Remember to keep it fun and simple.
We are so excited to see everyone's costumes!

THANK YOU!

Our class so generously received this document camera from our Amazon Wish List, and we want to say a huge THANK YOU! What a special surprise! Unfortunately, there was no slip in the package indicating who donated this gift to us. If it was you, please let me know so we can properly thank you!

IREADY REMINDER

Picture
I’ve had many questions regarding at-home practice since we don’t have homework in 2nd grade. I wanted to encourage the use of iReady - a program purchased by Fulton County that can be accessed on any device through Classlink. Students took a diagnostic assessment in both reading and math at the beginning of the school year to determine areas of mastery and areas for growth in both subjects. With this information, the program created a personalized learning path just for your child based on his/her needs. This is an EXCELLENT source of differentiated instruction that is geared specifically toward helping your child progress and develop understanding!

Our goal as a county is to have students complete lessons on their individualized learning path for 45 minutes in reading and 45 minutes in math each week. We are completing some of that time during rotations in the classroom; however, your child is more than welcome to complete additional practice at home to help them reach their weekly goal in both subject areas.

If your child chooses to complete lessons at home, please try your best not to assist them. The reason for this is that the more lessons they master, the more challenging the assignments become. If you child is stuck because the content is too difficult and you share answers with him/her, it will continue to assign assignments that are too difficult. If your child is stuck, please encourage him/her to take a break and shoot me an email. I will take a look in the platform to see what domain they’re working in and see what I can do to guide them down a path that will allow them to be more successful. I am here for support!

"SOCKTOBER" IS HERE!

Picture
Dear Dolvin Families,

It is time for one of our FAVORITE giving opportunities! "Socktober" is a yearly sock-giving event that takes place in October to help others in need.

When:  September 27,2021 to October 15th, 2021
What:  Please send in new, unused socks (in child and adult sizes) with your child to give to their homeroom teacher.
Who:  The socks will be donated to the Gateway Center in Atlanta, and the Foster Care Support Foundation in Roswell.
Celebrate: There will be a little friendly competition between classrooms and grade levels as we announce weekly totals.
Let’s show our support and have fun at the same time!

Last week, our class collected over 50 pairs of socks! You all are DolvIncredible!

Thanks for your support!
