NEXT WEEK, WE WILL LEARN...

  • Reading
    • 2.RL.6   Acknowledge differences in the points of view of characters, including by speaking in a different voice for each character when reading dialogue aloud.
  • Writing
    • ELAGSE2W2   Write informative/explanatory texts in which they introduce a topic, use facts and definitions to develop points, and provide a concluding statement or section.
ELAGSE2W8   Recall information from experiences or gather information from provided sources to answer a question.
  • Phonics
    • ELAGSE2RF3   Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
      • suffix (-less,  -ful, -ish)
  • Math
    • On-Level
      • We will complete a cumulative Zoo PBL (project-based learning) activity that requires students to use all the math skills they have learned this year to create a zoo with a partner!
    • Unit 3.3 - Advanced - Please click here for the unit 3 parent letter.
      • MGSE.3.OA.8   Solve two-step word problems using the four operations. Represent these problems using equations with a letter standing for the unknown quantity. Assess the reasonableness of answers using mental computation and estimation strategies including rounding.
      • MGSE.3.OA.9   Identify arithmetic patterns (including patterns in the addition table or multiplication table) and explain them using properties of operations. For example, observe that 4 times a number is always even, and explain why 4 times a number can be decomposed into two equal addends.
      • MGSE3.MD.3   Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step “how many more” and “how many less” problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
      • MGSE3.MD.4 Generate measurement data by measuring lengths using rulers marked with halves and fourths of an inch. Show the data by making a line plot, where the horizontal scale is marked off in appropriate units – whole numbers, halves, or quarters.
      • MGSE3.MD.5   Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement.
      • MGSE3.MD.6   Measure areas by counting unit squares (square cm, square m, square in, square ft, and improvised units).
      • MGSE3.MD.7   Relate area to the operations of multiplication and addition.
        • We will take a major assessment over these standards next week (was originally scheduled for this week).
  • Social Studies
    • SS2E1   Explain that because of scarcity, people must make choices that result in opportunity costs.
    • SS2E2   Identify some ways in which goods and services are allocated (such as: price, majority rule, contests, force, sharing, lottery, authority, first-come-first-served, and personal characteristics).
    • SS2E3   Explain that people usually use money to obtain the goods and services they want and explain how money makes trade easier than barter.
    • SS2E4   Describe the costs and benefits of personal saving and spending choices.
