Decided to enjoy the sunshine and have our math stations outside today! What a GREAT way to end our week! 
Thank you to the Science Machine for a great in-house field trip this week!

​NEXT WEEK, WE WILL LEARN...

  • Reading
    • 2.RL.1   Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.​​
      • We will take a minor assessment over this standard next week (a completion grade of novel study assignments thus far - see below for more information).
  • Writing
    • ELAGSE2W3   Write narratives in which they recount a well-elaborated event or short sequence of events, include details to describe actions, thoughts, and feelings, use temporal words to signal event order, and provide a sense of closure.
    • ELAGSE2L1.f   Produce, expand, and rearrange complete simple and compound sentences (e.g., The boy watched the movie; The little boy watched the movie; The action movie was watched by the little boy).
  • Grammar 
    • ELAGSE2L2   Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English capitalization, punctuation, and spelling when writing.
    • ELAGSE2L2.b   Use commas in greetings and closings of letters.
  • Phonics ​
    • ELAGSE2L1.f   Produce, expand, and rearrange complete simple and compound sentences (e.g., The boy watched the movie; The little boy watched the movie; The action movie was watched by the little boy).

    • ​ELAGSE2RF3   Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.

  • Math 
    • Unit ​2.6 - On Level - Please click here for the unit 6 parent letter. 
      • MGSE2.OA.4   Use addition to find the total number of objects arranged in rectangular arrays with up to 5 rows and up to 5 columns; write an equation to express the total as a sum of equal addends.​
        • We will take a minor assessment over this standard next week.
    • ​Unit 3.3 - Advanced - Please click here for the unit 3 parent letter.
      • MGSE3.MD.3   Draw a scaled picture graph and a scaled bar graph to represent a data set with several categories. Solve one- and two-step "how many more" and "how many less" problems using information presented in scaled bar graphs. For example, draw a bar graph in which each square in the bar graph might represent 5 pets.
      • MGSE3.MD.5   Recognize area as an attribute of plane figures and understand concepts of area measurement.
  • Social Studies
    • S2L1.b ​  Plan and carry out an investigation of the life cycle of a plant by growing a plant from a seed and by recording changes over a period of time.​
      • We will take a major assessment over this standard next week.
    • S2L1.d   Develop models to illustrate the unique and diverse life cycles of organisms other than humans.
    • S2E3.b   Construct an explanation of the causes and effects of a change to the environment in your community.

Novel study fun has begun!

Novel study fun has begun! We are putting all our reading skills to the test with this comprehensive unit. Each day, we read a chapter or two and discuss the important details and discuss comprehension questions.

​It's hard to believe that we only have 29 days of school left! WOW, this school year has truly flown by. Where did the time go?! With that being said, it is almost time for our school-wide ABC Countdown, starting next Thursday, 4/21. Please stay tuned as I will be sending out a calendar with each day's celebration soon!
